Mobile apps

iOS and Android app development, through to the app stores

Type Apps builds iOS and Android apps, native or cross-platform, and handles App Store and Google Play submission. Design, back end, cloud and security are handled by the same team, from first sketch to launch.

Mobile apps

What we do

Native iOS and Android

Swift and Kotlin apps when you need full use of each platform’s features.

Cross-platform apps

One codebase for both platforms with React Native or Flutter.

Back ends and APIs

The APIs, databases and sign-in your app depends on, deployed to your cloud.

App store submission

We prepare and submit your app to the App Store and Google Play.

Marketplace apps

Mobile marketplaces with analytics for buyers and sellers, like BRED. and Sleekride.

Process

How we work

  1. 01

    Discover

Goals, users and constraints, including native or cross-platform. You get a scope, estimate and roadmap.

  2. 02

    Design

User flows, clickable prototypes and the system architecture.

  3. 03

    Build

Two-week sprints, daily updates and a demo every sprint.

  4. 04

    Secure & launch

Testing, a security review, cloud deployment and App Store and Google Play submission.

  5. 05

    Scale & support

Monitoring, iteration and ongoing support as you grow.

A good fit when

  • You’re launching a new app and want design, build and store submission handled by one team.
  • You need your app on both iOS and Android without maintaining two codebases.
  • Your app needs a back end, sign-in and cloud hosting built alongside it.
  • You have a web product and want a mobile app that matches it.

FAQ

Mobile apps: common questions

Do you build native or cross-platform apps?

Both. Type Apps builds native apps with Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android, and cross-platform apps with React Native or Flutter. Native suits apps that lean heavily on platform features, while cross-platform lets one codebase serve both stores. We recommend one during discovery based on your product, budget and timeline.

Do you handle App Store and Google Play submission?

Yes. We handle App Store and Google Play submission as part of launch, alongside testing, a security review and deployment of the back end. Submission is part of the fourth step of our process, after discovery, design and build, so it is planned into the scope from the start.

Can you build the back end for my app?

Yes. Type Apps builds the APIs, databases, sign-in and cloud infrastructure a mobile app depends on, using Node.js, Python or Go with PostgreSQL, MongoDB or Redis. It is deployed to AWS, Google Cloud, Azure or another cloud you use, through a pipeline that tests and scans every change.

How long does it take to build a mobile app?

It depends on the features, platforms and integrations, so we scope it first. After a call about goals, users and constraints, you get a scope, estimate and roadmap before any commitment. Development runs in two-week sprints with daily updates and a demo at the end of each sprint.

What mobile apps has Type Apps worked on?

Type Apps has helped launch BRED., a live stock-style marketplace for luxury athletic footwear, and Sleekride, a car-trading platform for web and mobile. We also make our own app, Flawless Clean, which helps cleaning companies run inspections and turnover jobs.
